Calling all granola lovers (or muesli lovers for those South Africans out there), these
rusks are crunchy (without being tooth breakers) since they are freshly baked and
packed with flavor. A perfect combination of flavor notes with a hint of sweet, salty and
buttery goodness.
We started Ruusters Rusks to introduce a very special South African tradition to those
around us. Ruusters Artisanal Rusks are a twice baked bread that is enjoyed anytime of
the day. We usually have them dunked (or alongside) our coffee or tea in the morning for
breakfast. We also enjoy the rusks at tea time and after dinner for a late night snack.
There is no time of day that isn’t suitable to bring out your bag of rusks to enjoy.

It starts and ends with a love story.... between Ruan and the rusk. But there is more to their story than just that. Ruan Roelofse and Katie Poluta are South Africans but both of their respective tennis careers brought them to the USA. Ruan was initially recruited out of South Africa to play tennis for the fighting Illini and after his freshman year decided to start his professional tennis career. A seasoned professional on the ATP tour, Ruan has played Davis Cup for South Africa, won multiple doubles tour events and enjoyed his best doubles career win against grand slam champions. Katie was recruited to play tennis for the Texas Longhorns and during her 4 years with the Longhorns, they won x2 Big 12 Championships and remained a top 10 team. Katie also played in the South African FedCup team. Katie and Ruan are both South Africans at heart and living in the USA reminded them how much they missed their South African delicacies, hence the birth of Ruusters Rusks. Our goal is to spread South African love and allow everyone to enjoy the delicious rusk.
