Over the past two decades, organic food has become very popular. The term "organic" refers to the process of how certain foods are being produced. How the food is grown or raised can have a significant impact on your mental and emotional health. Besides that, it is beneficial for the environment and the well-being of the animals. Consumption of organically grown food is a great way to reduce your exposure to contaminants commonly found in foods that have been produced using conventional agricultural practices.

What makes organic food healthier? Is organic food worth the expense?

Organic food often has more beneficial nutrients, such as antioxidants. Organic food is suitable for people that are allergic to certain foods, chemicals or preservatives. Usually, after a while, their symptoms lessen or go away.

Fewer pesticides

Having fewer pesticides in food is the most crucial difference between non-organic and organic good. Chemicals such as fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides are widely used in non-organic agriculture, and residues remain on the food we eat. Something that most of the people don't pay attention to.

Why is organic produce fresher? Because it doesn't contain preservatives that make it last longer. Organic food is often (but not always) produced on smaller farms near where it is sold right after it is produced.

Only organic milk lasts longer because producers use a different process to preserve it. According to the Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Alliance, the milk needs to stay fresh longer if it travels farther to reach store shelves.


Better for the environment.

Organic farming practices reduce pollution, conserve water, reduce soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and use less energy. Meaning organic food production helps the fight against global warming as well. Most organically produced food is distributed locally. As a result, less energy is used for transportation which automatically reduces carbon dioxide emissions which are believed to be the leading cause of global warming.

Farming without pesticides is also better for nearby birds and animals as well as people who live close to farms.

The organically raised animals are NOT given antibiotics, growth hormones, or fed animal byproducts.

Feeding livestock animal byproducts increase the risk of mad cow disease (BSE), and the use of antibiotics can create antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria. Sounds scary right? Usually, organically-raised animals are given more space to move around and access to the outdoors, which help to keep them healthy.

The meat and milk are more abundant in particular nutrients.

According to research in 2016, the levels of certain nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids, were up to 50 percent higher in organic meat and milk than in non-organic versions.


Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) or genetically engineered (GE) foods are plants which have altered DNA in ways that cannot occur in nature or during traditional crossbreeding, most commonly to be resistant to pesticides or produce an insecticide.
